The Sydney Roosters mascot’s dance moves during Sunday’s NRL Grand Final pre-show have sent social media into a spin.
Although indie rock band Gang of Youths headlined the performance, it was the mascot who stole the show before the Roosters defeated Melbourne Storm 21-6.
The giant rooster was spotted by fans performing the ‘Funky Chicken’ among a crowd of revellers gathered behind the band’s lead singer, David Le’aupepe.

Fans bombarded social media with appreciation posts for the big bird.
‘Did anyone else see a giant rooster in the crowd or are we hallucinating,’ one person asked.
‘Best thing about this pre game entertainment is the roosters mascot in the rent a crowd,’ one fan said.
‘You the real MVP,’ another said.
Melbourne Storm’s mascot can also be seen in the crowd, but was a little less jovial during the Sydney band’s performance.

A few days earlier, the mascot made headlines when he slapped star halfback Cooper Cronk’s injured shoulder.
The rooster’s wing slipped and caught Cronk on the shoulder, forcing the player to scream in pain.
Commentators saw the funny side of the mishap, joking that the mascot will be out of work after the incident.
